Dear Patient,
Thanks for contacting HCM
I have read your query and would like you to know that Rexipra is the brand name; the name of the medicine is escitalopram. It is an Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) and has only mild side effects like stomach upset, sexual problems, insomnia, dizziness, weight change, and headaches. I am happy Rexipra is working and you are feeling better and it would takes around 1 month to have its maximum effect. However, beside medication you can try other forms of therapy like Cognitive behavioral therapy ( it would help you see how you behave and the way you think about things that play a role in your depression. Your therapist would help you to modify some of these behaviors which cause depression), Interpersonal therapy ( It focuses on your relationships with other people and how they affect you), Problem-solving therapy ( It focuses on the specific problems you face and helps you find solutions) and counselling.
Once these therapies start to have an effect, your psychiatrist can taper the dose to 2.5 mg and then gradually stop the drug. Sometimes depression goes away of its own, but, depending on the nature and type of the depression, it may take many months. Give your psychiatrist time to access you and treat you and meanwhile you can also start psychological therapy which would help you a lot.

Hope this has helped you
Regards
