Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Im taking sotalol (120mg daily) for afib issues, was just prescribed cipro for a possible infection. everything I ve seen says the two should not be taken together (messes with QT interval...can cause dangerous arrythmia). If i stop taking the sotalol how long until it s out of my system? (My doc knows this but he s not the one risking the arrhythmia).
hello, i can understand your concern. You should not be stopping sotalol a this can lead to arrhythmia. instead your doctor can recommend a different antibiotic for infection. Do not stop medication on your own. If there has been a gap of 6 to 8 hrs between the two, there is no need to worry as ciprofloxacin half life is much lesser than sotalol. hope i have answered your query have a nice day
