Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
When you go to an obgyn appointment, and a urinalysis is done, will it detect THC? I was told by a lab technician that a drug urine test is completely different from all other urine test, and that the only way your obgyn would know whether or not any THC was present in your urine is if they were specifically looking for it. If the lab technician is accurate in this regard, is it typical for obgyns to automatically do drug urine tests during obgyn visits? Not sure if it matters, but i am living in canada.
General & Family Physician, Dr. Sirisha's Response
Your lab technician is correct that in urine routine done for medical reasons no test will be done to detect THC.specific testing is required to know if THC is present in urine.usually obsgyn will order this test only when they feel it is required based on your problems or if it is required by employment firms etc. The amount of time this will be in body depends on amount consumed as well as body metabolic rate.In infrequent users usually this will stay for 4days,a dn in frequent users this will stay for 10 days, but in heavy cannabis smokers for long time this may stay in the body for more than 2 months after last intake also. Hope I cleared your doubt.
