Hello,
Thankyou for asking your question at health care magic.
Teflaro remain in your system only few hours after the final dose. You should be asymptomatic by the 14 day course of antibiotics, if your
pneumonia has resolved completely without complications.
If a patient comes to me with these symptoms I would like to look for the possibility of Tuberculosis. Your symptoms of
chills, significant
weight loss and continued cough suggeast the possibility of tuberculosis especially if you have a history of exposure to sick patients / been to areas where incidence of TB is high.
Teflaro is an antibiotic used in treatment of pneumonia, but do not kill the
bacteria causing tuberculosis.
Other possibility is formation of an
abscess (collection of pus) in lung as a sequela of pneumonia.
I recommend you consult your doctor to have a detailed evaluation. You will also need further investigation like chest xray, sputum cytology, AFB staining (to look for TB) and more test may be warranted depending on the intial results.
Hope I was able to answer your question.
Please feel free to address any more concerns
Regards,
Dr.Lekshmi
