How Long Does Xanax Stay In Body?

My physician said xanac did not show up on my urine screening. I do have a script and take it daily. What could be the cause of it not showing up? I get tested through pain management monthly for my pain meds and was told the xanac which I list as one of my meds was not showing.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Xanax contains alprazolam. The drug behaves in the following way:
Following oral administration, alprazolam is readily absorbed and reaches its peak concentrations in the plasma by 1 to 2 hours. The mean plasma elimination half-life of alprazolam has been found to be about 11.2 hours (range: 6.3-26.9 hours) in healthy adults.
80% of alprazolam is bound to serum protein, chiefly albumin.
Alprazolam is extensively metabolized primarily by cytochrome P450 to two major metabolites in the plasma, namely 4-hydroxyalprazolam and α- hydroxyalprazolam. Alprazolam and its metabolites are excreted primarily in the urine.
Hope the information provided would be useful.
All the best.
