General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
Zithromax, also known as azithromycin, is an antibiotic commonly used to treat bacterial infections, including strep throat. The length of time it takes for Zithromax to start working can vary depending on the severity of the infection and the individual's response to the medication.
In general, many people start to feel better within the first few days of taking Zithromax. However, it is important to continue taking the medication as prescribed, even if symptoms improve, to fully clear the infection and prevent the development of antibiotic resistance.
Regarding the rash, it is important to notify your daughter's healthcare provider, as a rash can be a sign of an allergic reaction or a side effect of the medication. The healthcare provider may recommend a different antibiotic or adjust the dosage of Zithromax based on the rash and other symptoms.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
