How Long Does An Abortion Pill Remain In The System?

Hi! I am 18 weeks pregnant. I am about to take abortion pills this weekend. I am planning to do it at home since it is not allowed here in my country. Since I am now aware that greater risks applies while pregnancy is older, may I know that incase I get hospitalized during the process, will the Doctors know that I took abortion pills? I am planning to fake miscarriage incase. I need advice so bad. Hoping for your immediate response. Thank you!

Hi,

Before I answer your question let me make myself clear that it is always safer to get a medical termination of pregnancy done with the help of medical professionals and let me also tell you that trying to terminate your pregnancy on your own at 18 weeks has risks.

From a medical perspective, there is no physiologically significant difference between a medication abortion (sometimes called an abortion with pills) and a miscarriage.

In both cases, the symptoms, risks, warning signs, complications, and treatments are likely to be the same.

If blood is darker or lasts for more than a couple of days, this is a stronger indication of a miscarriage.

In contrast, when people try to end a pregnancy using medication, bleeding is expected and a sign that the pills are working.

There are no tests that can show that a pregnant person has done a medication abortion, and any clinic that can deal with complications of miscarriage can also help women with incomplete abortions because the symptoms are the same.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
