How Long Does Bleeding Remain After Taking Norethisterone?
Hi. I have been prescribed norethisterone to stop my bleeding. I have been bleeding for 3 weeks and it s been really heavy. I also have lower abdomen pain and the doctor wants to do swabs to see what s wrong with me. How long does it take to stop my bleeding
Hello dear I understand your concern Noreethisterone will help to stop the bleeding. But effect will depend on the cause of bleeding. If it is due to hormonal imbalance the it will responds in 1-2 week. But you have have bleeding since 3 week and not responds to noreethisterone need detailed examination and workout. Heavy bleeding could be due to endometriosis, ovarian cyst, endometrium and cervix dysplasia, fibroid, polyp and endometrium cancer. Progesterone shot in high dose and tranexamic acid will help to reduce the bleeding. Other treatment will depend on the specific cause. If bleeding persists inspite of medicine then D & C is the last option. Hope this may help you
