How Long Does Cocaine Remain In System During Pregnancy?
Hello I was wondering I have a friend who is 36 weeks pregnant and has done cocaine and smoked cigarettes and drank a little alcohol during her whole pregnancy how long does it take to get out of the babies Urine, blood, and merconium considering she is due very soon
The half life of cocaine is short, however, it remains in the body slightly longer in the body of heavy users. The levels maybe be detected for up to 2 weeks in such cases. All the substances mentioned in the query are capable of passing into the body of growing fetus. For example, moderate to high alcohol intake during pregnancy can cause fetal alcohol syndrome and is also associated with ADHD in children. Same way, nicotine in cigarette and psycho stimulants like cocaine can affect baby.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ayesha Shareef, General & Family Physician
