How Long Does Cotinine Stay In The Body After Chewing Tobacco?

Hello, I have a urine test for cotinine in 7 days. I was a daily user of chewing tobacco for 8 years prior to this. I quit chewing for 13 days straight before this. Then yesterday and today, I chewed again(4 times), and am left with 7 days until the test. If I stop now, will I have a good chance to pass? I am curious if all, or most of the nicotine/cotinine had left my body during the 13 day stretch of abstinence from it, or if chewing again for a couple days in between will make my levels rise back to where they were? Any thoughts or comments on the situation would be very helpful, thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I think the test will result positive. The nicotine cotinine needs about three weeks to come with negative test results.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka,
