How Long Does Dog Bite Take To Heal While On Treatment?

Hi, I was bitten by a dog on May 22 I had to have 7 stiches 2 inside and 5 out. I was on antibiotics for 10 days . Bruising gone but still a little red around edges and scab is really dark. I do put antibiotic ointment on it two times a day. just rinsing it off in the shower. Dr. did say it would take time to heal but seems like a long time.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
I had gone through your query and understand your concern.

Usually a wound will take few weeks to heal. We can not say exactly how many it will take to heal. It depends on many factors. If your immunity is good, it will heal faster. If you develop any secondary infection or if you have diabetes or any other diseases which reduces your immunity healing of wound will take longer time.

Take good care of your wound and continue the treatment.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Dr.Prathap Kumar
