Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was walking 4 miles/day, 6 days a week. I was doing this on a treadmill. I am 62 yrs old and have mild aging arthritis. This injury came on somewhat suddenly but not from a fall or any accident. There was no reason for it. I have had other injuries due to overuse in exercising . I tend to think an injury will heal on it s own. So i do not have a conservative approach to rest. I decreased exercise somewhat. Pain travels.....all on L foot. Mostly on superior 2nd toe. However it will travel to inferior metatarsol. After 5 wks of no treadmill and no decrease in pain I went to Orthopedic surgeon. X-ray and MRI were negative. He put me in a boot . Physician orders: Celebrex (I take this routinely), and no weight on foot X 3 wks. I did that. No improvement. I have started physical therapy. I have had 6 weeks of PT. Improvement is slow. However, I am able to go without boot for 2 hours a day with pain level 2 or 3. Since this began 11 weeks ago..... is this normal/typical healing period? Should I not be concerned with the time frame of healing. Seems slow to me. Thanks.
