How Long Does Injury To Big Toe In Children Take To Heal?

Hi, My 14 year old daughter hyperextended her big toe 3 week ago. an x-ray was taken and there was no break. It seems to be taking some time to heal, she said its not getting better. She in a boot right now and that seems to be working fine. How long should we expect before it gets better.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello. Thanks for writing to HCM.
I read and understand your question .
I will try my best to help you.
As your daughter 14 year old and having hyperextended her big toe and nothing on x ray to notice..I suggest you to take rest for few weeks. And do not overweight on big toe, apply hot water if feel pain. It will take around 5 to 6 weeks to come in to normal situation. Nothing to worry as children bone heal well.

I hope my advice will help you a lot.
Thanks and Regards.
