How Long Does It Take For Fibula To Calcify Post Double Fracture?

Hi, I had a double fracture 3 months ago: tibia-fibula The tibia has calcified in part but the fibula looks like it was 3 months ago. Doctors say it is a normal thing given my age (41). I would like to know how long does it take to the fibula to calcify? Would physiotherapy help? Thank you

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Fibula heals slowly compared to other bones. You can continue physiotherapy for faster recovery.

However, fibula is not required for weight-bearing and you can continue your activities.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
