How Long Does It Take For Lungs To Heal After Exposure To Fumes?

I inhaled bleach fumes from a spa chlorine 45ppm with one big inhale and burnt my lungs . Went to ER and they let me breathe a saline solution and it felt better but has been 24 hrs now and my lungs are tight. How long does it take for lungs to heal after exposure like this?

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
You are having inhalation lung injury.
This type of injury commonly causes inflammatory reaction in airways and bronchitis.
These cause tightness in chest.
Treatment requires avoidance of fumes, breathing of fresh air and plenty of fluids orally.
It takes almost 1 week for complete recovery.
But if you still feel chest tightness even after 1 week or develop wheezing or breathlessness than you will need inhaled bronchodilators, inhaled corticosteroid (ICS), antihistamines and anti inflammatory drugs.
So wait for 1 week, you will mostly improve.
Hope I have solved your query.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
