How Long Does It Take The Blood Clots To Break Down While Taking Fragmin?
I am being treated for pulmpnary embolism found on Jan. 30th. For now I m taking Fragmin until friday until my blood reaches 2. It is now at 1.78 for the coumadin. How long does it normally take the blood clots, which are small, to breakdown? I think it is the result of inactivity, I m writing a book.
Thanks for your question on HCM. I can understand your situation and problem. For Pulmonary embolism, PT with INR should be kept between 2-3 to achieve effective anticoagulant effect. Since your INR is 1.7, you need higher dose of anticoagulant coumadin, to maintain INR between 2-3. You need to take blood coagulant for at least 6-8 months. And resolution of Pulmonary embolism needs at least 6-8 months. So you can expect recover after 6-8 months.
