Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I received first, second and a small area of third degree burns after being hit in the leg with an artiliary shell on the 4th of July. I did see a doctor to check for fracture and to treat the burns. Just wondering how long it will take to heal? No sign of infection, but still pretty sore. Area is about 3-4 diameter for most severe area. About 6-inch diameter area for first and second degree burns. Just curious.
Hi. I've gone through your query and I can understand your anxiety.
Third degree burns extends deeper & affect the nerves. So these burns are not sensitive to pain. They heal on their own unless it becomes infected or the injury gets more deeper. But takes a very long time based on the thickness it spreads.
Usually, partial-thickness burns heals within 1- 2 weeks & for large burns may take 3 to 4 weeks to heal or sometimes needs a skin grafting
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care.
Regards, Dr. Yogapriya V, General and family physician.
