How Long Does It Take To Overcome Severe Night Terrors?

24,5"11,153lbs, starting 6 weeks ago i had a sudden change of schedule(was going to gym and school everyday) in which i think made my sleep patterns change so much in which i was having severe night terrors multiple times per day(only slept 3hrs per day).Up until a week ago i saw a doctor and was given klonopin, which made my nightmares go away and now i sleep around 6hrs with a nap once a day.i wake up from my naps and feel very dizzy which have slightly decresed each day.Ive heard of sleep dept which i most likely have a good amount of.So how around how long does it take for my body to balance out.i also sometimes get a ringing in my ears before i sleep.thanks soo much

Dear HCM user
It will take a few weeks before your new routine gets regularized. I hope you are not taking any supplements from gym that may have hormones and thus cause some symptoms. As you mentioned klonopin helped you. I advice you to continue it for sometime and then gradually taper it off after 3-4 weeks. Additionally I will advice you to follow some simple steps of sleep hygiene that are efficacious in sleep disturbance and you may not need medications. It includes Avoid napping during the day. Avoid stimulants such as caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol too close to bedtime. Continue exercising but make sure you do not overdo it as aches and pain can disturb sleep. Also make sure you exercise in morning or late afternoon. Stay away from large meals close to bedtime. Establish a regular relaxing bedtime routine like reading, calm music. Do not bring your problems to bed.
Associate your bed with sleep by using it just for that and not for watching TV, laptop, mobile. Sleep and wake-up at fixed timings. Hope this will help you sleep better without medicines.
