ACL- Anterior cruciate and Posterior Cruciate ligaments are the two tension bands of tissue connecting the thigh bone to the shin bone. These ligaments are found in the middle of the joint helps to limit the movements. These two ligaments cross each other and link the bones.
Anterior cruciate ligament tears during moderate to heavy injury commonly during sports or excess weight related stress. Surgical replacement is necessary, if the tear is severe. Physiotherapy is necessary for recovery from after the surgery. It may take nine to twelve months to go for active athletic activity or weight lifting. Discuss with the physiotherapist and orthopedist for further evaluation and guidance.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
