How Long Does It Take To Treat Swollen And Tender Ankle?
Hello and thank you for your services and advise, I rolled my ankle about 3 weeks ago, it is still tender and swollen. It hurts if I step weird or stretch it too much.I m hoping its just still trying to heal. It doesn t hurt to walk on it much unless its being strained. I ve iced it a bit and walk on it normal.I m mostly worried about the swelling. My ankle isn t too swollen but it looks like I have a cankle going on and I wonder if it ll go away or if its permanent. As in there s liquid in it or something of that sort. What do you think and how long do you think I should wait till I can really start to worry? Don t want a Cankle for life lol .
Tenderness and swelling of ankle joint is probably due to trauma to the ankle joint. I suggest you to apply hot fomentation to the ankle joint and take pain killers in case of pain. In case the symptoms do not resolve within few days, then you need to consult an orthopedist.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
