Hallow Dear,

You had last menstrual period on 23rd December and had unprotected sex on or around 5th January. Since you have taken Postinor on 5th January, I am inferring that you had unprotected sex on that day. This day does fall in the fertile window which is of about a week around the day of ovulation, which in your case would be around 7th Of January.

Postinor has to be taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex. It is very reliable post-coital contraceptive pill. Being a hormonal pill it may cause some withdrawal bleeding few days later and/or the menses may get delayed. Usually they are not delayed by more than a week or so.

Since Postinor is Levonorgestrel - a Progestational medicine, it may reduce the amount of bleeding, particularly in those who are progesterone dominant women. (Such woman usually have low menses and smaller breasts.) This may lead to delayed menses by substantial time.

Since your pregnancy test is negative at 6 weeks, the chances of pregnancy are almost nil. Usually by this time the pregnancy tests are quite reliable. You may please repeat the test and still if it negative, you may opt for induction of withdrawal bleeding. Instead of only progesterone pills, take Oestrogen + Progesterone pills (Oestrogen dominant birth control pills) for 5 days. 4-7 days after that you should get withdrawal bleeding.

I do not feel you should be worried about this incidence. Worries and stress are known to delay the menses further.

I hope this helps you.
