How Long Does Recovery Take After Knee Replacement Surgery?
I had back surgery in 2010 and came out of surgery with a bad infection. I have 5 screws in my back. What is the chance of this infection seeding in to a knee replacement. I need a total knee replacement and I am very worried about another surgery I have been told I really need a total replacement. What is my chances of a successful recovery without the staph infection affection my knee?
Infection of back surgery which you had undergone previously could have happened due to various reasons. That doesn't mean that it could happen again with surgery when you go for knee replacement. If proper aseptic precautions are taken along with care to treat the wound following surgery, then the outcome of surgery should be good. It may take few days to recover in the hospital until stabilisation. The success of the surgery will depend largely on how well you follow the orthopaedic surgeon's instructions at home during the first few weeks after surgery, especially with reference to wound care, diet and physical activity.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
