How Long Does Recovery Take After Surgery For Severe Cystocele?
My mom just had surgery yesterday for a severe cystocele. She was discharged about 5 hours later with a follow up appointment for the following day. When she went to the appointment the doctor did an ultrasound and saw that her bladder was not emptying so he inserted a catheter. She has an appointment in 2 days to get it removed and have another ultrasound, he also started her on antibiotics and a medication to prevent a yeast infection. Is this a normal procedure after the surgery? Also I would like to know the time frame for healing and restrictions. My mom is 72 years old and also has diabetes.
Welcome to HCM I have read and understand your query I appreciate your concern yes these are quite normal postsurgical indications. The foley's catheter may be inserted for 2 to 3 days.Antibiotic is prescribed to reduce the risk of post operative surgical infection. The patient also is instructed to avoid activities for several weeks that cause strain on the surgical site; these include lifting, coughing, long periods of standing, sneezing, straining with bowel movements.A woman usually is able to resume normal activities, including in about four weeks after the procedure. I hope this would help you.you can reach me anytime with any other query Regards Dr Faeza
