Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I got hit on the inside of my left foot above the arch, right below the ankle with a softball about 3 weeks ago. Still have slight swelling and pain, I noticed a hard knot where I got hit. Do I need to see a doctor or will it take more time to heal? Thanks.
As you got a hit by a softball about 3 weeks ago and there is no change in the pain I will advise to take an x-ray as it may be a hairline fracture and needs attention.
Usually, post-injury it is advised to follow the RICE protocol. Rest Ice Compression Elevation. This protocol is advised to be followed so that the x-ray taken later should show the injury. But usually, it is followed as a treatment and the actual cause always remains untreated.
I will advise to take an x-ray, use crepe bandage and keep the limb elevated. Post which the necessary measures will be taken.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
