how long can the herpes virus ( genital ) stay dormant in someone.........from first contact my wife has just been diagnosed and I dont have it and we have been married 30 years and she has redness and little blisters on her buttocks.....never seen it before and I dont have herpes can it stay dormant for over thirty years thank you Steven

hi.. you had not provoded is it HSV 1 or HSV 2.
as per your concerns herpes can remain dormant for many years ..duration depend on helth of person.if person is fit and healthy dormancy is longer..while in ill person it is short..
as your wife has HSV you also be tested for HSV..
