How Long Does The Pain Post Injury Take To Resolve Despite Having Normal X-ray?

My mother fell two weeks ago. She is 80 and fell on her left side. It happened on a Wednesday, but she didn t feel the pain until Friday night of that week. She was admitted to hospital by Sunday - pain kept her awake all night. After x-rays, no broken ribs found, but perhaps a stress fracture or internal bruising. The doctor said to message area and take Tylenol, if needed. It is now a week since the hospital xrays and she is still in discomfort. My question is - what can we do to make the pain go away?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Since she is old age so healing requires longer time than the normal young or adult age person. Also, she needs to take proper rest and avoid moving the pain area more frequently.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Afia Mazhar, General & Family Physician
