How Long Does The Swelling And Bruising On The Knee From Injury Take To Heal?
I have a very large hematoma just under my knee caused by slipping on a slippery step. Accident happened about 10 days ago. Although it is better, I still have swelling and bruising on my legs and the hematoma is still quite large. How long do I need to ice it and stay off of it? When will it be OK to increase my activities like play golf? How long will,it take to go away!?
Thank you for your consultation. This haematoma will disappear but depends on the size. and if the is rebleeding into the haematoma. most of the haematoma takes 7 to 10 says to disolve. while other takes longer especially if there is rebleeding. If it take long time surgical intervention is recommended. to open and drain it and recheck if there is active bleeding going on inside. Ice treatment and or analgesics will reduce pain but not if there is continuous bleeding.
