Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 62, female and generally healthy. Just recently quit smoking weed after using for many years most every day. Sore throat and cough lingering on after two weeks. Anger, depression and moodiness persist. I know these symptoms are normal but how long will it last? I m going into the 4th week and wonder if you can suggest something to ease the withdrawl? You could have told me there was a charge for the info. It would be more honest to make that clear from the beginning. But I guess I m the idiot for not knowing that, probably not really a Dr. Well you made a fool of me, didn t you?
The withdrawal effect of weed (mostly dhatura or aphrodistic available commercially as hashish or else) last for a varying period of time depending upon the duration, dose consumed. Usually within 4-6 weeks time period, the intensity of withdrawal symptoms taper gradually and vanishes. So if you are having lessening of the above mentioned effects as per your doubt, it is fine that you are about to cross the border of victory line.
However following will help you for smoother journey as: - Plenty of liquids - Nutritious diet - Meditations and YOGA - Avoiding stress and anxiety - Avoid caffeine, smoking, alcohol if consuming - A low dose melatonin (3mg) has been proven effective for smooth tapering - Joining peer groups of same situation
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
