Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Long Is The Healing Period Of Incision On Stomach Post Laminectomy?
My wife had a laminectomy last Tues. The incision was closed with surgical glue. After we got home, a small separation occured, about 1/8 inch. It is seeping blood when she is sitting but there is not active bleeding. She wants to shower but I am concerned that even though she could shower in a couple of days that with the open area she should wait.
The healing period for surgical incision depends on various factors. Healing depends on condition of the surgical wound. In case the surgical wound gapes after surgery or there is infection, then time required for healing is longer. The usual time is 8-10 days.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
