How Long It Take To Dissolve The Dis Solvable Stitches?

I had a 3 cm incision on my tongue to remove a lesion (non cancerous), can't remember what surgeon called it but said it was kind of like a callus. Oral surgeon put in dissolvable stitches. How long will it take until they fall out. It's been 2 days, tongue is a still tender but mostly because the stitches are rubbing my mouth. Not overly red, no infection, healing nicely.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain in case if you have tenderness over tongue on which surgical treatment has been done 2 days back, it is not an abnormal finding as pain is common finding after any surgical procedure..
You can take painkillers like Motrin or Aleve or Tylenol to relieve pain..

The other part of your question is that as you have got resorbable
[dissolvable] stitches it can take for about 3 to 4 weeks to almost 2 to 3 months for the sutures to resorb completely..
So as it is just 2 days you will have to keep patience as it take further few days to relieve pain and discomfort as well as for initiation of resorption of sutures..

As it is healing nicely you can relax as the healing is progressive..
Maintain a good oral hygiene, take a soft diet and plenty of fluids..
Visit your treating surgeon for regular checkup as advised..
