How Long Sexual Abstinence Is Necessary While On Chlamydia Treatment?

Hi, yesterday I was diagnosed with Chlamydia and given the two pill, one time treatment of axithromycin. My partner was given the treatment as well. I was wondering how long do I need to wait before I have sex with my partner again, my doctor didn t tell me. Thank you.

Chlamydia trachomatis is a sexually transmitted infection. Azithromycin 1 gram single dose orally is sufficient for clearing Chlamydia infection from the body. Now you can have sex as both of you received treatment.
There are chances of other infections such syphilis, gonorrhea, chancroid, HIV, and hepatitis B/C.
Advice
1.     Take hepatitis B vaccine – 3 doses – on 0, 1 and 6 months
2.     Use condom before sex
3.     Investigations
a.     VDRL
b.     HBsAg (Australia antigen)
c.     HCV DNA
d.     HIV screening
The above tests are for both of you.
