How Long Should Atenolol And Triamterene-Hydrochlorothiazide Be Taken For BP?
I just started on BP today. My pressure was 190/120 when I arrived at the doctors office and it s currently at 115/86 with a pulse rate of 78. My doctor started me no a combination of Atenolol as well as trim/hctz. How long will I have to stay on theses or can I work to wean myself off and still have these types of results?
In my opinion, the doses and salt of antihypertensive drug depends on your levels of BP readings as well as any accompanying conditions like kidney disorder, heart condition or diabetes etc. However, you are not advised to suddenly stop the drugs being used for hypertension.
These drugs are always increased or decreased in a gradually tapering manner titrating the dose against the reading of your BP, pulse rate and other related symptoms. The accompanying conditions will also determine the doses of individual salt needed to be increased, decreased or completely eliminated from a combination of drugs.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
