How Long Should I Take Metformin And Glipizide For Type 2 Diabetes?
I have type 2 diabetics and blood sugar is average at 170. I am taking mediformin 1000mg and glipizide 10mg. My question is: after taking these meds for 7 years and excercising, change diet. Do I need to keep taking those meds. for a long period of time? I just don't like taking meds if there's another plan without them.
You need to understand that diabetes is a chronic manageable condition and it needs life long treatment to control the disease progression and prevent it's complications of the eye, kidney, heart and other vital organs. If you stop the treatment than you blood sugar with go out of control and you with develop complications earlier in life. This will reduce the quality and quantity of your life. I would advice my patient to take treatment for life long.
