How Long Should Ibugesic Be Taken For Knee Infection?
Hi, my daughter is 6 years old. She had a fall while playing a couple of days ago and hurt both her knees which resulted in bleeding. Yesterday morning, she developed an infection (pus formation) in her wound. She had fever too (101 F). She was given a Tetanus toxoid booster dose by a GP as her peadiatriacian is not available and adviced 5ml Ibugesic thrice a day. Fever still did not subside. Today she has been prescribed 5ml Ibugesic, meftal and another antiboitic. I am not sure if this is an over dose. Please advice. I will not be able to reach her pediatrician until 3 days later, hence the query. But she has stopped getting fever since morning with this dose.
Both Ibugesic and Meftal can be overdose of antipyretic. Hence I would suggest using Meftal and antibiotic. Any new pus collection or infection could have caused the high fever which should be ruled out. Tepid sponging can be done to bring down the fever. You can stop Meftal if fever has stopped and use only during fever.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
