How Long Should Ofloxacin 200mg Be Taken To Cure Enlarged Testicle?
I am having swelling and enlarged right testicle. After ultrasound usg of scrotum diagnosed as acute epidimytis. No pain from the beginning. I have taken zanocin 200 (Ofloxacin 200mg) two daily for 7 days and 1 daily for 30 days. There is some improvement. Please advise for how much time continuously I can take this medicine regularly or I should give a gap in between. Looking into improvement and practically no side effect I want to continue for some more time. Other strong antibiotic do not suit me and I have loose motion etc.
Hello Generally 4-6 weeks of antibiotics coverage is enough to treat epididymitis. And if any sexually transmitted bug ( most commonly C. trachomatis and N. gonorrhoeae) was the cause then you should also get your partner treated for it. Ofloxacin and other drugs of this class are generally not recommended currently due to its high rate of resistance. If it has worked for you then that's a good thing. You are taking this antibiotic from a month; so you should also take probiotics as these are broad spectrum antibiotics and decrease the useful bacterias in your gut. Hope this helps you. Regards.
