Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Long Should Prednisolone Be Continued Post Cataract Surgery?
My eye surgeon prescribed prednisolone after successful cataract removal. She recommended continuing for 4 weeks 3 times a day because of a small amount of pressure. I hada check up today, 4 weeks after surgery and everything is fine and pressure quite normal but the surgeon is not available for a few days to allow reduction of the drops. I know that they shouldn t be stopped immediately but wonder if it would be OK to reduce the drops as don t like taking drugs unnecessarily.
Prednisolone acetate for “about four to six weeks post-op.” Its steroid is helpful in reducing inflammation and pressure due to any kind of inflammation.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Archana, General & Family Physician
