How Long Should Prednisone Be Taken While Treating Inflammation In The Lung?

I took prednisone for lung inflammation after a viral infection for 10 days (4 pills x 3 days, 3 pills x 3 days, 2 pills x 3 days, 1 pill x 3 days). It worked. How long until I am likely to be at a lower risk of infection? I am planning an elective surgery.

Thanks for putting up your query over here.
A washout period of minimum 3 months can be considered before surgery is taken after the course of steroid is over.
Alternatively,If the surgery cannot be delay for so long,the minimal dose of steroid is continued till the surgery day and thereafter for some days.
