Loss of smell is due to
sinusitis and is due to physical blockage of the nose by nasal discharge and congestion. Solupred contains
prednisolone. It relieves congestion and inflammation. But long term use is associated with lot of adverse effects such as infection,
high blood pressure, weakening of bone and high blood sugar. You need treatment of sinusitis. Smell sensation will restore when sinusitis resolves.
Advice
1. Stop Solupred
2.
Levocetirizine 5 mg daily per oral for 5 days
3. Cefixime 100 mg every 12 hours per oral for 7 days
4. Ambroxol 30 mg daily per oral for 5 days
5. Do gargle with slight warm salt water four times daily
6. Do not eat heavily at a time. Eat smaller meals
7. Do not lie down immediately after meal
8. Avoid dust, smoking, alcohol, dry environment and spicy food
9. Avoid coffee and tea after meal

ENT specialist for general examination of your nasal passage
