How Long Should Medication Be Continued For Difficulty In Passing Urine Post Knee Replacement?
I have undergone TURP in 2010 for enlarged prostrate. Of late I was operated upon for Total knee replacement in February 2015. Post surgery I had problems in passing urine. The hospital urologist prescribed Finasteride+Tamsulosin which I am using till date. How long should I continue with these medicines? I am a sugar and BP patient. My age is 77 years. Please reply. Thanking you. M. A. Rasheed New York USA
You have been taking Finasteride + Tamsulosin combination for benign prostatic hyperplasia or abbreviated as BPH. Usually people take this medicine for long duration like years together. There are no dangerous side effects with this drug so you need not get apprehended. It doesn't interfere with your sugar or BP medication.
But if you want to stop the drug ,there is a chance of symptoms recurring. So kindly consult a urologist before you stop the medication. Your prostate needs to be assessed by an expert. Various clinical tests may be required. You don't need to be worried as it's a safe medication.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
