Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I am having a myelogram the 30th of this month. The paperwork I was sent states I will need to be flat on my back for at least 30 minutes, then I can be dismissed. I have always heard that a patient needs to be flat for at least 6 - 8 hours. I live 65 miles from the imaging center and I am concerned about the ride home and I could have a bad headache from it. At one time I had migraine headaches and I am not looking forward to another headache like them. Should I stay on my back there even if they say I can go?
Patients who undergo myelography are advised not to run strenuous physical activity for a couple of days after the procedure. Riding home is not considered a strenuous physical activity, so do not worry.
If you feel any unusual symptom like fever or vomiting, should consult with your doctor as soon as possible.
All the best.
