Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Prednisolone is a corticosteroid that may be used for a wide variety of medical conditions including skin problems and should be used with caution given their side effects. This drug however might only be a symptomatic management and i will not encourage it for long. However, when on it for long, an abrupt stop should be avoided. You reduce your dose progressively till you get off it.For duration on treatment to control itches, this is always judged by the prescribing Doctor depending on the severity of what he is handling.
Treatment options for eczema may include: topical corticosteroids, topical calcineurin inhibitors, oral antihistamins, oral or injectable corticosteroids during severe attacks but not to be used for long, light therapy and stress reduction.Response to treatment however varies with individuals and may need trying and evaluating different options.
I will however advise you see a dermatologist for evaluation and better management. You may also try the following home measures:
-Take an oral anti-histamine
-Take a bleach bath
-Apply calamine lotion to affected areas
-Moisturize skin at least twice per day
-Avoid scratching
-Apply cold/wet compress
-Choose mild soaps without dye or perfume
-Use humidifiers
-Use cool,smooth textured cotton dresses
-Avoid stress
Hope my answer will help you
Best regards
