How Long Should Swelling And Bruise Remain Without Concern In A Warfarin Patient?

I am with a patient who has been on warfarin for 2 weeks. On Saturday night I took him to ER because his knee was swollen and it was bruised. His INR was 7. Dx: coumadin toxicity and hemathrosis of lower leg. His previous prescribed dose 5mg was held pending reevaluation today. His PCP was closed today so we will attempt to see her tomorrow. My concern is that the swelling and brusing has not subsided even though he has been on bed rest for 2 days. My question is how am long should this condition remain without concern? What is the typical character of brusung, ie course of symptoms to expect?
