How Long Until The Pain To Subsides With Antibiotics For Funiculitis?

Hi: I had a dull pain on my groin and lower abdomen and consulted an internist and he looked at the Scrotum USG and found that my right spermatic cord is thickened mildly and diagnosed it to be funicullitis and gave an antibiotic amoxcillin for 5 days (1-1-1). It has been 9 days since i started taking the precirbed antibiotics and the pain is still there. How long should i wait for the pain to subside, may be three weeks?, Or should i go back to him for another type of antibiotics. I did not do Urine test or culture.

Hello,

Spermatic cord inflammation commonly occurs due to the infection of the epididymitis, testis or urethra. Patients with epididymitis caused by urinary tract infection should take plenty of fluids to flush the genitourinary tract. Get urinalysis (R/E & C/S) done. Take a full course of antibiotics. Funiculitis associated with epididymitis is due to bacterial infection, including STIs.

Get STD tests done to stay safe. Always perform safe sex. If STD or UTI is detected than your partner also needs to be treated to prevent relapse of the symptoms. It commonly gets healed by 4 weeks but if associated with STD or UTI, it may take about 6-8 weeks to heal. Stay at rest and perform safe sex.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
