How Long Will It Take For Propranolol And Coreg To Be Effective?

I was on proprananol 20mg twice a day but the pressure in my chest was too much even after 6 weeks. I couldn t breath, it felt like an elephant sitting on my chest. I started coreg 12.5 bid last night but my heart rate is averaging 140. How long does it take for the proprananol to flush and the coreg to be effective? I was on coreg 3.125 bid before the proprananol but it wasn t effective however it didn t cause the pressure on my chest. Is there another drug that may control my high heart rate that will not cause the elephant on my chest feeling?

Hello,

The Propranolol is best molecule for high heart rate issue, though when it does not work satisfactorily, Coreg which is Carvediol a beta blocker to control the heart rate pattern is preferred over that. It usually takes 3-4 doses of Coreg to give you desired effect of pressure over chest and palpitation. Need additional acts of meditations and deep breathing exercises, YOGA for better recovery in most appropriate manner.
