How Many Leep Procedures Should Be Done Before A Uterus Surgery?
My question is how many leep procedures should you have before committing to surgery to remove cervix and uterus? I had a colposcopy yesterday. My doctor suggested I have another leep because she said I still have tissue there to scape. I am going to have my 4th leep next month. I have tested negative to hpv, but still have mild dysplasia.

The number of LEEP procedures to be done varies from patient to patient. It depends on:
- Severity of the abnormal tissue, frequency of recurrence, length of the cervix remained etc. Number of procedures may vary from one to around seven also depends on the patient condition.
Decision to more invasive procedure like surgery depends on:
- Age of the patient, family completed or not, associated commodities, compliance to the treatment etc.
As you are having mild dysplasia with HPV negative, your doctor might have suggested to repeat the LEEP. In case of severe form, she might have suggested more invasive surgery. If your next pap smear after this LEEP gives normal report, you may need not go for either LEEP or surgery. So be hopeful.
