How Often Must My Mother's Urea And Electrolyte Levels Be Checked?
Dear Doctor My mum has congestive heart failure and has been taking as a diuretic Frusemide 40mg daily. Just recently the nurse at the heart failure clinic added in Spironolactone 12.5mg daily but the Frusemide dose is the same. Is it normal that 2 different diuretics are prescribed to be taken concurrently and also will this have any reaction with the Candesartan that she takes as well? How often must her urea & electrolyte levels be checked now? Thankyou for your help.
If your mother doesn't have kidney failure, it is a good idea to prescribe Spironolactone and Furosemide together. Spironolactone will not let to a big drop in potassium levels. It is Ok to take them together with Candesartan. I would advise you to check electrolytes once monthly, after 3 months, if they are stable, then you can check it once in a 3 months.
Hope I could help you
Wishing you good health
