How Safe Are Metformin Hcl Tablets Compared With Taking Insulin Shots?

Yesterday, I was just told that I have Diabetes. My perscription is: METFORMIN HCL 1000MG Tabs. How safe are these tablets compared with taking insulin shots? There are a lot of warnings that go with this drug. Should I be worried starting out with this drug?

Dear sir

Meftormin hydrochloride belongs to group of insulin sensitizers. which increases the insulin utilization of endogenously produced insulin.

Metformin is indicated in type 2 diabetes, where the raised blood sugars are due to increased insulin resistance. In obese type 2 diabetes reducing insulin resistance is the main modality of treatment. Insulin shots might not be needed

If there is absolute deficiency of insulin which is produced endogenously, then you need to give insulin shots rather than metformin.

There are individual drug indication and contraindications for each patients. We cannot compare the efficacy of the drugs by comparing them

Thanks
