I have factor V leiden and in 2007 I had a blood clot in my lung caused by my c-section. So now I am taking cumadin and my doctor says I will be on it forever. I want to start doing the hcg diet. it is only for 42 days. Is it safe to do the diet? I ve had one pregnacy with no blood thinners while I was pregnant, and two with blood thinners. Fot those two I only had to take the blood thinners while I was pregnant. Then I stopped taking it. The only reason I had my blood clot is because after my c-section I sat in a car for four days while traveling. Please let me know if I can do the hcg diet. I am taking cumadin.
The taking of exogenous HCG for dietary purposes has not been evaluated for safety by the FDA, or any medical advisory, because it is considered an alternative treatment. So there are no safety studies of the use of HCG in anyone, let alone someone with a history of blood clots. The reason pregnant women get blood clots is complex but none of them are related to levels of HCG. Even still, I cannot recommend the HCG diet for anyone, especially someone with medical problems. Increasing your exercise level and limiting your calorie intake, especially of sugars and simple carbohydrates, is the healthiest and most long-lasting method of weight loss. I hope this answers your question and good luck.
