How Safe Is Surgery For Retinal Detachment?

hi my uncle is has a retina detachment and he cant see at all now. He could see fine three days ago. Hes getting surgery on Monday, but both my dad and my uncle broke down crying earlier today. Im really worried and Im wondering what the success rate of the surgery will be and if he will get full site back in that eye when the surgery is done
