How Safe Is Taking Ciproflaxin For Stomach Pain And Diarrhea?

My son and his girlfriend just got back from Punta Cana. They both have been having stomach pain and diarrhea (sp). He went to the immediate care today and was prescribed ciproflaxin, and she went to her dr. and was told he did not like to use ciproflavin because it has caused torn and ruptured tendons. He is 24 and very active working out. Would you recommend him taking this drug or recommend another? From what I read it says this drug can still cause problems months after being used. thank you

Welcome to HCM. I can understand your predicament. That concern is quite real, however, Ciprofloxacin is also very effective at treating their ailments, as long as this drug is not used for a long time, it is relatively safe. I would caution him to bring up any tendon or leg cramps to the attention of his doctor as soon as it happens. I hope this helps.
